Xanthan Gum

Description

Highly purified biopolymer (xanthan gum). It is used to control viscosity and structural properties of most water-based drilling muds. The reagent improves considerably solids-carrying and cutting-carrying capacity of drilling muds even after treatment in minimum concentrations.

Range of applications

The reagent is used to control rheological (plastic viscosity, DSS) and structural properties (SSS) of most water-based drilling muds. The reagents can also be used for conditioning and control the properties of well-completion fluids. The main feature of the reagent is its ability to reach specific rheological profile - high viscosity at low shear rate and low viscosity at high shear rates. This feature allows obtaining fluids with high solids-carrying and cutting-carrying capacity at minimum drilling pressures. Low viscosity at high shear rates provides reduction of pressure losses in the strings and ensures maximum bit hydraulic horsepower.
