Base oil

Description

Highly purified low-toxic synthetic oil represented by linear polyalphaolefins is designed to be used as a vehicle for oil-based drilling muds (OBMs). Low viscosity and thickening temperature, high flash point and almost complete absence of aromatic hydrocarbons allow using of the base for the preparation of a wide range of OBMs for almost any drilling conditions.

Range of applications

Due to its low viscosity and low thickening temperature, this oil is ideal for use in frigid climate, offshore well-drilling at great water depths. Unlike other oils, it is almost free from aromatic hydrocarbons, that reduces greatly the toxicity of ready OBMs with respect to the drilling environment and personnel. Low oil combustibleness and low volatility allow avoiding the majority of standard OBM problems and simplifying substantially the preparation and use of OBMs on existing drilling systems.
